Wilfred Forster was born in 1899 in Moore and baptised at All Saints’, Daresbury on 5 February 1899. His parents were William, a farm waggoner, and Mary. Wilfred had four siblings, Eva b1890, Fred b1892, Walter b1894 and Herbert b1897. He was employed by the L&NW railway company at Bank Quay station.
Herbert, his brother, had joined the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment in 1916. Wilfred joined the East Lancashire Regiment in 1917, when he was 18 years old.
He went to the front the following January and was killed in action on March 21 1918. He is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, Pas de Calais.
