Peter was born on the 1st September 1887 and was the son of Thomas and Alice Speed (nee Taylor). His father was a waterman.
His sister, Lois, was born on the 5th January 1889.
Peter served with the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment (number 39089). He was awarded the Victory Medal and the British Medal.
In 1939 Peter, still unmarried was living at “The Hollows” with his widowed father and unmarried sister. He was a road worker and his father was a coal dealer. Lois ran the house.
