George was born in Lostock Gralam, Northwich, the son of George Baguely Warburton and Emma and later lived in Preston Brook.Nothing more is known of his early life.
He enlisted in the 3rd battalion, Rifle Brigade, service number 2/1462, in Manchester. He became a lance corporal.
George was killed in action on 17 July 1915, aged 33 years and is buried in the Potijze Burial Ground Cemetery, Belgium.
