Albert Percival was born on 17th October 1895 at Five Crosses, near Frodsham and baptised at Frodsham twelve days later. He was the son of Charles Percival (born Frodsham) and Alice (nee Ainsworth) who was also born at Frodsham. Charles was an agricultural labourer.
In 1901 the Census showed Albert as living with his parents at Parkside in Aston. Albert was their only surviving child as a son Charles had died in 1894 at the age of six months and another son called Wilfred had died in 1897 at the age of 13 days.
Ten years later they were still living at Parkside in Aston and by then Albert was working as a farm labourer like his father. Alice’s niece Florrie Ainsworth, who was ten years old, also lived with them.
Albert married Annie Whitby on 14th August 1912 at St Peter’s Church in Aston. Annie was born at Newton (Frodsham) in September 1891 and was employed before her marriage as a milkmaid to Robert Shepherd, a farmer in Aston. In 1913 their daughter Nellie was born and a second daughter Emily was born in 1915. A son called Charles Albert was born in 1917.

It would appear that he was assigned to a Tank Corps. He was posted in August 1916 and again in September 1918, being attached to 547 Agricultural Company in late November of that year. He was demobilised on 27th October 1919 at which time the family were living at Cornwall Gardens in Aston.
His father Charles died in 1917 aged 55 years.
The 1939 Register showed the Albert and Annie living at The Croft on Northwich Road in Dutton. Albert was employed as a County Council roadman and only their son was still living at home.
His mother Alice died in 1942 aged 84 years.
After World War Two Albert became an electricity board transport driver.
Nellie died in early 1969, when they were residing at 97, Greenway Road in Runcorn.
