A Talk – Migration from Daresbury to the Rest of the World!
Come and join us at 7pm for a cup of tea and the talk will begin at 7.30pm
Today we all take worldwide travel for granted, but even over 100 years ago, our ancestors could travel the globe. However, travel in the early 20th century and even long before that, was very different to travel in 2018. No planes of course, just very long voyages by sea. But travel they did, so why don’t you come along and let Valda tell you some of the stories of villagers who travelled all over the world, many seeking a better life, some seeking adventure and at least one who didn’t want to go at all! Here’s a photo of the ‘Oransay’ that took one of our parishioners to Sydney.
