After four years our World War One project is coming to an end. There will always be soldiers’ stories to be updated, but the majority of the research is complete – and our lottery grant is spent. We are extremely grateful to the Heritage Lottery for their financial support to help us undertake this project. Now we need to upload more content to this website, telling stories of life on the home front and we still have the stories of soldiers from Preston Brook and Newton-by-Daresbury to add to the IWM website ‘Lives of the First World War’.
Currently we are concentrating on three main areas of research – ‘Extraordinary Women’ of the parish, ‘Vanished Buildings’ and the ‘Halls’ of the parish. Later in the year there will be displays, talks and walks so you can hear what we have discovered.
