John Lindsay Lee Jones

John (or Jack as he was better known) served in WW1 and was a captain in the 9th King’s Liverpool Regiment. We posted his story in March 2016 as part of our work on WW1 soldiers from the parish. Recently we have been contacted by his grandson who is very proud of his grandfather and asked us if we’d like to include these photographs. This is what he writes about him –

“In the 1960’s when I was a small boy, he used to mention his
childhood in Daresbury. I was captivated also by tales of his
exploits in WW1 – although he was reluctant to give me too much
detail and I realise now the horrors he must have experienced.
He was a Captain the the 9th Kings Liverpool Regiment and was the
officer in command of three tanks. These were the 7th, 8th and 9th
tanks ever put into service.”
